History
For the past 4 years, I have been dabbling in Web Site design and creation. I have taken online accredited web design classes for HTML, graphic design and javascripting. I also took a class in Flash, but did not enjoy it. As a result, I will not design Flash projects. There are many people on the World Wide Web who design nothing but Flash projects. Find one that suits you, if this is what you are looking for. |
Specialties
I am not a professional web site designer, I am an artist. However, I very much enjoy this venue of creativity and I stand by what I create to your satisfaction. I specialize in photographic manipulation and design, as well as graphic design, which is so much a part of web design and creating a site that people will remember and come back to. As is evident in the sites listed in my portfolio, I lean more towards the private owner, rather than business sites. Web Design is not my main source of income, and therefore I prefer creating sites for artists and kennel owners and such; those that allow me to use my artistic talents. Although the sites I have created are for kennel owners, any site is considered. Animals are so much an integral part of my life and all dogs (cats and horses too!) are near and dear to my heart. I believe it is what enables me to put the beauty and pride into a kennel site. If you are an artist and want to display and/or sell your work, and you like my site, I am the designer for you. Host and Domain Registration
Web Hosting: I do not have the capability to host web sites, except initial hosting of new designs. I will set up your site with a host of your choice, and handle the registration of your domain name if required. I recommend Host Assured web hosting for three very important reasons; quality, service and price. In the four years that I have used this hosting service, I have had only one instance of inaccessibility; when multiple city block power grid went down because of an explosion. They were back up and running the next day. Customer and Technical Service is extremely good, with a response time for email inquiries at less than 2 hours. Host Assured is not the cheapest hosting service, but their prices are reasonable, and certainly not the highest. Since the explosion, Host Assured has implemented a "mirror" site in another location. For a minimal charge, a web site can be duplicated at this second site to prevent users from experiencing down time, in the case of extraordinary circumstances. Affiliation Associate: You may certainly use any Web Host you prefer. However, I have had excellent service from Host Assured, and for that reason I am a user Affiliation Associate and receive a credit when another person signs up at my recommendation. If you decide to use them, please click on the "Free Parking" link on my Home page and sign up from there. Domain Name Registration: I use GoDaddy.com. For domain name service, price is about all you need to consider. You may use any Domain name registration site you wish. |

Process
When you are ready to begin, we will have a discussion about color schemes and design. I will set up an initial Home page for your inspection on my domain. After any initial modifications, if you like what you see, 50% of the initial quote is required up front, with the balance due upon completion and transfer to your web host. You will be required to choose a domain name, and a web host, and send the user name and password to me for administrative access. Photographs must be sent to me for scanning, or scanned at specified resolution requirements and emailed to me. I have thousands of fonts and graphics, but special fonts and graphics that are not accessible to me will add to the cost. You may provide your own if you have them. When the site is finished, I will make modifications to it for a total of 4 hours time or one month, whichever comes first, before charging administration fees. You must agree to a design copyright statement on each page I design for a period of one year before removing it, even if you alter the design yourself. You will receive a Site Specifications file that includes all details and templates for repeatable graphics and images. Please understand that learning this on the fly takes several years and a lot of mistakes. If you do not have the experience required, correcting mistakes you make yourself will be cost you. |

Information
Browser Compatibility: The sites I create are designed with all but the oldest browsers in mind (IE 4.0 and newer and Netscape). I do not have other browsers to test with, but I have others who will do this for me. Any concerns about web browser compatibility should be disclosed to me initially to prevent problems after the design is complete. Javascript: I use Javascript whenever necessary. If you plan to take over administration of your site when I am finished, you will receive instructions on the modifications of any that are not readily self-explanatory. Software: I use Macromedia Dreamweaver for web site design, and Adobe Imaging Suite and compatible graphics editing software for graphic editing and design. These are industry standard applications and will produce the most error free sites, in my experience. |
